Banyan Tree Cycling Tours - be inspired

Banyan Tree also called "kalpavriksha"

meaning "wish fulfilling divine tree"

ThThe morning enfolds in simple visual and sensory pleasures:

washing your face in pure spring water from the mountain stream

hearing the farmers wind instruments whirring away deterring birds from ripening crops of rice

touching the wood and stone intricate carvings in small villages

hearing the melodious sounds of gamelan carrying over the fields

Cycle lush river valleys above the cultural centre of Ubud

Crista:  “We were picked up from our lodgings in Ubud @ 8am and were enjoying breakfast over a vista of spectacular mountain farms @ 8.45am. The organic breakfast of banana pancakes with forest honey and local Kopi (coffee), tea or fruit juice put us in good spirits for the quiet meandering lanes to follow.”

“I certainly can't fault the care and attention which went into my excellent day with Banyan Tree, and I'll recommend you to all and sundry.”

Stanley: “To have time to stop and talk with local farmers gives real insight to their way of life. This is the advantage of a skilled bilingual guide. We spoke with a transmigration farmer who had returned from 15 years farming rice in Sulawesi, as we spoke of different agricultural practices I observed that this farmer and his colonial bike gave special meaning to the sustainability that has occurred on this island over generations.

They have maintained the spiritual balance in life, which gives them the foundation to counter adversity.

They retain useful technology that serves a simple life well.”

Banyan Tree

Our tour started early in the morning after eating breakfast in Pacung Village. We rode secret back roads, free of traffic (mostly downhill!), hypnotized by the beauty of rice fields, temples and smiley faces greeting us non-stop. Bagiada, our tour guide's knowledge of the culture, history and traditions of Bali, along with his fluency in English gave us an in-depth look and understanding of his native Bali. For me, the highlight of the tour was stopping and visiting a family's compound, a place that from outside seemed beautiful but also very mysterious. Through Bagi, we met the family, entered their sacred temple, got to hear how they raise their animals, the rice and how they live in sacred union with nature and their gods.

Banyan Tree Cycling Tours ran by Bagiada, is a once in a lifetime experience. I highly recommend it!!
